Vodafone Australia to sell iPhone (but won’t say when)
Vodafone has announced it has signed an agreement with Apple to sell the iPhone in ten of its markets around the world (including Australia). Although this is good news for the Apple fanatics desperate to get their hands on the much lauded iPhone, Apple and Vodafone won’t reveal a street date – probably because neither party is 100% sure...
The most likely scenario is that this will be a 3G iPhone which has not yet launched in the US and will be aimed initially at Europe and Japan, where sales of the original iPhone have lagged somewhat as people were reluctant to commit to the slow data speed version.
So once Europe and Japan have stocked up, expect the 3G iPhone here, potentially in the 3rd quarter.
If you want a smart phone quicker than that, 3 have recently hit the market with the BlackBerry 8707g. Optus will also sell the iPhone.
