Infor launches Web 2.0 user interface
Software vendor Infor has used the inaugural Australian Inforum conference to unveil MyDay, a new role-based Web 2.0 user interface that sits on top of Infor's Open SOA platform...
The preconfigured interface provides users with home page-style access to Infor application content, task lists, metrics and key performance indicators tailored for their job roles. Currently in limited release, MyDay will be rolled out across Infor solutions from January 2009 onwards.
Bruce Gordon, chief technology officer, Infor, described the development of the “directive and prescriptive” user interface as one of the key challenges that Infor is addressing in its plan to deliver software that extends beyond the enterprise.
Gordon spoke of the need for applications that enable organisations to run business networks that span suppliers, customers and partners; where the network offers standard integration across multiple disparate systems and represents a collaborative resource that enables a single view of information across the supply chain.
Infor has committed $325 million to Open SOA-focused technology investment over the next four years to help realise this vision.
Infor also announced an expansion of its relationship with Microsoft that will enable Infor to package and sell Microsoft SQL Server with its enterprise applications. The news means that Infor customers will be able to obtain product, maintenance and support from a single point of contact.
The conference coincided with the Australian release of Infor HCM Workforce Management Business Edition. Designed for mid-sized organisations the software provides time and attendance functionality that supports compliance with HR and workplace employment initiatives.
